Samuel Rosario was born Deaf and is the only Deaf member of his family. Originally from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, he is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish, and English.

Samuel’s academic journey began at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida, where, in 2015, he became the first Deaf graduate of the ASL Interpreting program. During his time there, he served as an ASL tutor for two years, helping students strengthen their language skills and cultural awareness. He later earned his Bachelor’s degree from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.

One of Samuel’s most meaningful experiences was volunteering at a Deaf school in Jamaica, where he supported students in developing a strong Deaf identity and embracing their culture. He currently works at the first Deaf-operated banking branch in Central Florida, proudly serving the community with accessibility and inclusivity in mind.

Looking ahead, Samuel plans to begin graduate school in 2026 to pursue his goal of becoming an ASL professor. He is deeply passionate about student success, language access, and guiding future learners toward ASL proficiency while celebrating the richness of Deaf culture.
